Five years ago on this day, Google rebranded the Android Market and launched Google Play — its one-stop hub for all your digital needs like books, movies, apps, games, and more. In its celebration post, Google notes that Google Play now has more than 1 billion active users from over 190 countries. It also houses over 40 million songs and 5 million books, though it did not provide any figures for the number of apps and games that the Play Store hosts. To celebrate the occasion, Google revealed the top 5 apps, books, movies, songs, albums, and more on the Play Store in the United States since its launch. The list of apps and games contain some extremely popular names like Facebook, Temple Run 2, and Snapchat, with Adele’s terrific 25 taking the top spot in the Album category.
