Up until now, we have heard conflicting reports about Samsung updating the Galaxy Note 2 to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Samsung Poland had said back in February this year that the Note 2 will be getting the Lollipop update, but a post on Samsung’s Gulf Facebook page said otherwise. It looks like there was a reason behind the contradicting statements made by Samsung Poland and Gulf though. Samsung Denmark has revealed in a tweet that the Galaxy Note 2 will be getting the Lollipop update in certain regions of the world, with Denmark being one of them.
— Samsung Danmark (@SamsungDK) May 8, 2015 Samsung had sold the Galaxy Note 2 with an Exynos process in majority of the markets of the world, though it did launch a Snapdragon 600 powered variant of the device down the line. Since the chipset plays a major deciding factor for Android updates, it is likely that Samsung will not be updating those Galaxy Note 2 variants to Lollipop whose chipset support has been dropped by its OEM. At the moment though, it is unclear which variant of the Galaxy Note 2 will be getting the Lollipop update and in which regions of the world. The Galaxy Note 2 had originally launched with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the second half of 2012 and was updated to Android 4.4 KitKat last year.
