While rumors had suggested that the new Galaxy Gear will sport a new design, the leaked image suggests otherwise. Both variants of the smartwatch look similar to the current generation Gear, albeit with reduced bezel space and a front facing camera. Surprisingly, there is also a miniature physical home button present on the front of the devices.
— @evleaks (@evleaks) February 22, 2014 @evleaks tweet suggests that the devices are going to be called the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo — the latter branding being used by Samsung to launch cheaper variants of its high-end devices. The cheaper ‘Neo’ variant is probably going to compete with low-cost smartwatches like the Pebble, thanks to its plastic body that should keep manufacturing costs down. On the other hand, the Gear 2 will be the successor to the original Gear and retain its metal body. Update: @evleaks has just posted a high resolution picture of the devices.
